The Department of Ecology and Marine Resources (ECOMER) develops its activity within the research line of Structure, Dynamics and Functioning of Marine Systems. Our main goal is to contribute to the sustainability of marine systems by providing sound scientific knowledge about its structure, functioning and response to natural and anthropogenic pressure.

The ECOMER, from a multi-disciplinary perspective, tackles the study of interactions and couplings among physical, chemical and biological processes in the ocean. The research topics dealt with by ECOMER embrace from physical processes (ocean circulation, sea level etc.) to marine biogeochemistry, phytoplankton and macrophyte ecology and fisheries ecology.
