The Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies (IMEDEA), a joint research centre of two solid institutions such as CSIC and UIB, is the result of the agreements that both public organizations have been subscribing since 1995. The first on the list was the Framework Agreement between UIB-CSIC, followed by subsequent updates to the most recent one, in 2008 when the Enlargement Agreement is created, also between the University of Balearic Islands and the Spanish National Council Research.
