Marine Technologies, Operational and Coastal Oceanography

image
The objective of this Research Group is to increase the understanding of the different geophysical processes responsible for the variability in the coastal oceans at different spatial and temporal scales. The variability of the coastal and shallow seas is governed on one hand by the hydrodynamics of the open ocean and on the other by wave-current interactions, bottom topography and other morphological variables so that its study is one of the biggest challenges in marine research. Due to this intrinsic complexity it is necessary to attack this study under a horizontal strategy using three main axis: observation, modeling and physical principles. Our approaches are therefore the study of coastal ocean from an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approach to (1) get a deeper insight in the different processes governing the dynamic of coastal areas, (2) analyze the interaction between coastal and open seas and  (3) develop new monitoring strategies.
