The Outreach and Scientific Culture Program (PECI) for schools in Mallorca is an initiative of the Mediterranean Institute of Advanced Studies (IMEDEA CSIC-UIB) aimed at providing a valuable educational resource on science to schools throughout Mallorca in the field of science outreach.

This program is aimed at students of Primary and ESO, and aims to promote scientific knowledge and research culture among the youngest.

This program is part of IMEDEA’s main mission: to transfer scientific knowledge to society and to deepen the understanding of the environmental processes that affect both the planet and the species that inhabit it.

Through innovative educational activities, PECI seeks to integrate science into school curricula, reinforcing learning and fostering students’ curiosity about key topics such as the environment and biodiversity.

Through playful and participatory methodologies, PECI activities are designed to stimulate the development of scientific competence, while focusing on their understanding of the role of science in the conservation of life on Earth.

The launching of this program is possible thanks to the recognition of IMEDEA as a “María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence”, which has allowed the opening of a new line of work focused on the educational environment (grant CEX2021-001198 funded by MICIU/*AEI/10.13039/501100011033).
