Abstract:Resum
Abstract
In this paper we describe a new subgenus of Glirid, within the genus Eliomys,
Eivissia n. subgen., type-species E. canarreiensis, frorn the locality of Cova de Ca Na
Reia (Eivissa, Pityusic Islands). Eivissia is a Plio-Pleistocene endemism frorn the island
of Eivissa, belonging to a different lineage from that of Hypnomys, the endemic Glirid
from Mallorca and Menorca. Eivissia is less modified frorn Eliomys that other endemic
glirids in the Mediterranean Islands (Hypnomys, Thyrrenoglis, Maltamys, Leithia).
A second form of Glirid is present also in Ca Na Reia, its relationships with Eivissia
being obscure.
