Open Pre-registration for IMEDEA Scientific Diving Course 2024
Course Dates and Location:
Monday, April 15th (theoretical classes in person, IMEDEA)
Tuesday, April 16th (theoretical classes in person, IMEDEA)
Wednesday, April 17th, 18th, 19th, 22nd, and 23rd (practical day: dives in Pollensa with Tramuntana Diving)
The objective of the course is to train participants in the tasks related to scientific diving operations, underwater sampling, and procedures established by regional regulations for its execution. The scientific diving course is distributed over 2 theoretical days and 5 practical days, including 6 underwater sampling dives and a multiple-choice exam.
Candidates will be selected based on meeting the requirements and documentation uploaded in this preregistration.
Essential requirements for registration:
- Diving certificate equivalent to a dive leader (ISO 24801 3)
- Scientific diving medical certificate (valid for 2 years)
- EFR Certificate (Emergency First Response & Oxygen Administration)
In addition, the following will be taken into account for candidate selection:
- Recreational diving experience, number of dives (certify by scanning or screenshotting the last page of the dive log).
- Scientific diving experience (certify by screenshot or scan of the dive log or through an explanatory statement signed by a responsible researcher).
- Institution to which the candidate belongs / candidate's current contract.
- Diving projects / work the candidate is currently undertaking.
- Diving projects / work planned for the year 2024.
The preregistration will be open until March 13th at 12:00 PM.
Candidates will be selected until March 15th (inclusive) and will be informed via email.
