We received the visit of the IES Benditat

14/11/2023

Last Monday, November 13th, as part of the program of events of the Science and Technology Week, we had the pleasure of receiving at IMEDEA's facilities a group of students from IES Bendinat in Calviá.

These students are part of the ERASMUS+ You4Blue program, an educational initiative implemented in three Mediterranean islands of three different countries of the European Union (Italy, Greece and Spain). In Mallorca, the Institut Mediterrani d'Estudis Avançats is the You4Blue partner for Spain, and IES Bendinat is the institution where the collaboration and scientific support has been carried out.

The project's main objective is to promote a complete sustainability experience for high school students. In this approach, marine resources are not only considered as a source of food, but also as elements that contribute to recreation, spirituality, sports activities, culture, among others.

In each country, it was decided to involve an institute together with a scientific partner to establish a direct link between scientists and students in the development of activities. Both parties will have the opportunity to interact and exchange methodologies, languages and experiences.

As part of this scientific accompaniment, the students have visited the IMEDEA facilities, touring the different laboratories and facilities of the institute and participating in various proposed activities such as a workshop on climate change and ocean acidification, or "Mistery Boxes" a look at the scientific process in the form of a deductive game.
